One of the highlights of your wedding will be hearing the speeches prepared by your friends and family. The MC will introduce the newlywed couple, then welcome the guests to the reception and propose a toast to the Bride and Groom. Speeches are not as traditional with Asian weddings, but they are becoming more common with the next generation. They are a great idea and one of the most enjoyable aspects of the evening.
The order of speeches for the wedding is as follows:
- The Groom – the Groom will thank guests for coming and toast the members of the Bridal party, to thank them for all their help in planning the big day
- The Bride – if she has something she wishes to add
- The Best Man – the Best Man will respond to the Groom’s toast and speak on behalf of the Bridal party, thanking the couple for letting them be a part of the special occasion and congratulating the couple on their nuptials
- A toast is then made to the Bride’s parents by a close friend or family member
The Bride’s father – the Bride’s father will respond to the toast and possibly say a few words that may convey how proud he is of his daughter, as well as welcome his new son-in-law to the family. He will then toast the newlyweds - A toast is then made to the Groom’s parents by a close friend or family member
- The Groom’s Father – the Groom’s father will respond to the toast and possibly say a few words about how proud he is of his son and welcome his new daughter- in-law into the family. He may also give them some advice about what lies on the road ahead. Finally, the MC will ask if anyone else would like to say a few words or propose a toast.
